Day 3: Photo-Worthy Views on Hermit Road & Desert View

    • Start your day early to catch sunrise at Shoshone Point (it’s worth the early wake-up, we promise!). This flat, 1-mile walk offers unobstructed panoramic views of the sunrise of the canyon’s rim, perfect for photos or just taking it in over a cup of coffee. After sunrise, enjoy a flavorful breakfast at Yavapai Dining Hall before heading out for the day.
    • Explore Hermit Road via the free South Rim Shuttle (Red Route). Beginning at Bright Angel Trailhead, the shuttle takes you to 9 scenic overlooks along Hermit Road, ending at Hermits Rest. Take in views of the Colorado River, explore historic structures, and enjoy some of the best views of the Grand Canyon at your own pace.
    • Later, embark on a scenic drive along Desert View Drive to Desert View Watchtower. Explore the historic watchtower and take in eastern canyon views, then grab lunch at Desert View Market & Deli. Take your time on the drive back to Grand Canyon Village, stopping at iconic viewpoints along the way like Pipe Creek Vista, Grandview Point, Moran Point, Lipan Point, Navajo Point, and Duck on a Rock.
    • Two Grand Canyon visitors hiking on a trail into the canyon

Day 4: Hike into the Canyon

    • Fuel for your day with a hearty breakfast at Canyon Room, then grab a picnic lunch and trail snacks from The Squire’s grab-and-go. Park at the Visitor Center, then take the Orange Shuttle toward the South Kaibab Trailhead.
    • Descend into the canyon on the South Kaibab Trail, taking in the sweeping vistas along the way. Hike to Ooh Ahh Point for a short, but stunning trek (1.8 miles / 1-2 hours round trip), or descend further if you’re an experienced hiker to either Cedar Ridge (3 miles / 2-4 hours round trip) or Skeleton Point (6 miles / 4-6 hours round trip). Note: the trail is significantly steeper below Cedar Ridge, and day hikes are not recommended after this point.
    • After your hike, enjoy a well-deserved meal and beverage at Yavapai Tavern. Explore the Grand Canyon Village at your leisure, then take in a final awe-inspiring sunset and stargazing over Yavapai Point.
