Grand Canyon Fire Updates

Beginning Saturday, December 6th, Grand Canyon National Park will enter Stage 4 water restrictions. While Grand Canyon remains open for daytime visitors, overnight accommodations inside the park are not permitted in this time as repairs are made to the Transcanyon Waterline.

South Rim Trail Reopenings

Several trails along the South Rim have reopened with the wildfire reaching 100% containment, including:

  • South Kaibab Trail: open from trailhead to Phantom Ranch
  • Tonto Trail: open between Tipoff and Havasupai Gardens
  • Bright Angel Trail: open from trailhead to River Resthouse

Phantom Ranch and Bright Angel Campground are now open. The River Trail from River Resthouse to the South Kaibab Trail junction remains closed through December 31, 2025 due to ongoing construction on the Transcanyon Waterline Project. The Silver Bridge will remain closed through December 31, 2025.

North Rim Winter Closure

Despite plans to reopen the area, Grand Canyon’s North Rim will close for the winter season due to impending weather. With extensive damages from the Dragon Bravo Fire, impending winter weather will create unsafe conditions for visitors. This closure includes the North Rim visitor and adjacent areas, select trails like the North Kaibab Trail, and all North Rim roads. Winter closures will remain in effect throughout the season, with a tentative reopening date of May 2026.
