Grand Canyon Operational Updates

The latest information on the status of Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon National Park will enter Stage 2 Water Restrictions beginning Wednesday, December 31st. Camper Services is open for guests from 7 AM – 5 PM.

South Rim Trail Status

Several trails along the South Rim have reopened following maintenance in 2025:

  • South Kaibab Trail: open from trailhead to Phantom Ranch
  • Tonto Trail: open between Tipoff and Havasupai Gardens
  • Bright Angel Trail: open from trailhead to River Resthouse

Phantom Ranch and Bright Angel Campground are now open. The River Trail from River Resthouse to the South Kaibab Trail junction remains closed, along with the Silver Bridge.

North Rim Winter Closure

Grand Canyon’s North Rim remain closed for the winter season, which includes visitor and adjacent areas, select trails like the North Kaibab Trail, and all North Rim roads. Winter closures will remain in effect throughout the season, with a tentative reopening date of May 2026.
