Grand Canyon South Rim is currently under Stage 4 Water Restrictions as a water conservation measure. While the South Rim is open for daytime visitors, all lodging within the park is closed for overnight guests.
Activities inside the park remain open throughout the South Rim and all lodging in the gateway town of Tusayan remain open. In an effort to continue water conservation, please bring plenty of water with you when visiting the park.

Lipan Point and Lipan Point Road along Desert View Drive (Highway 64) will be closed to all visitors from June 22 through December 23, 2026, for critical rehabilitation and maintenance work. Tanner Trail will remain open, hikers must park at No Name Point and walk to the trailhead.

The North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park is now to the public, with many paved roads accessible for scenic drives to popular viewpoints. Cape Royal Road and Point Imperial Road will be temporarily closed from sunset Oct. 15 through sunrise Nov. 3, 2026, to accommodate critical road repair and rehabilitation work in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration.
The North Rim entrance gate on State Route 67 will close at sunset Nov. 30, 2026, or after the first major snowstorm, whichever comes first. Visitors traveling to the North Rim before the gate closes should be prepared for winter driving conditions on State Route 67 and throughout the park.
The North Kaibab Trail remains closed following the flash floods in August 2026.
Travelers to the North Rim are encouraged to check current conditions and carry adequate food, water, fuel, and emergency supplies. Visitors should use extra caution as winter weather arrives.
