We’ll even have a comfy crate, food and water bowls, and tasty treats waiting for them. (Don’t worry, humans, we have treats for you too!) Need a break? Let your furry friend sniff out some adventure at our on-site pet relief area, or explore the many walkable, pet-friendly trails nearby. And if they forget their favorite chew toy, no worries! Did you know there are plenty of pet-friendly hikes within the Grand Canyon National Park and just outside in the Kaibab National Forest? Here at the South Rim, your furry friend can join you on scenic adventures along the paved South Rim Trail, offering breathtaking overlooks, or explore the Mather and Desert View Campgrounds, both located above the rim.

Kaibab National Forest Adventures
Just a short drive away, the Kaibab National Forest boasts a variety of dog-friendly trails perfect for you and your pup to explore together. Popular options include the scenic Sycamore Falls Trail, the moderate Bill Williams Mountain Trail, or the easy Keyhole Sink Trail. Important Reminders

  • Always keep your dog on a leash no longer than 6 feet within the Grand Canyon National Park.
  • Never leave your pet unattended or tied up outside or in your vehicle.
  • Be sure to pack plenty of water, snacks, and paw protection (especially during hot summer months) for your furry adventurer.
  • Familiarize yourself with the B.A.R.K. principles (Bag your pet’s waste, Always leash your pet, Respect wildlife, Know before you go) to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Yes, some of our rooms are pet-friendly.

Grand Canyon National Park allows leashed dogs on named trails above the rim (not on any inner Canyon trails for their safety and yours). Walk the South Rim for great views and a safe, pet-friendly hike. You’ll get to see some of the big draws of the Grand Canyon:

  • Yavapai, Hopi, Mojave and Mather Points.
  • Stop by Yavapai Tavern to grab a drink and enjoy lunch on the patio with your BFF (best furry friend).
  • Check out Desert View to cool off with some ice cream.
  • Shop at Yavapai Lodge Gift Shop and pick up a souvenir for your favorite sidekick!
  • Grab a beer at Grand Canyon Brewing & Distillery, just outside the park.

All of our guest rooms and common areas are non-smoking. Coconino County law also permits smoking within 20’ of a building.

Check-in begins at 4pm and check-out is at 11am. A valid government-issued photo ID and major credit card are required upon check-in.
